Spring Flowers

Mar 21

spring-flowersMade some tissue paper pom poms today because I couldn’t bear to take down my little jar of sticks just yet. They’re a little trickier to make than I remembered—you have to have just the right number of layers of paper, and you have to be really careful when you’re pulling the them apart. (I also think the smaller they are, the harder they are.) But they’re so pretty, it’s totally worth it!

Martha has some instructions if you want to DIY. (I read some of the comments first which is always helpful.) For small poms, loosely follow the instructions for the napkin rings. (No more than 4 layers of paper for the little guys! I learned the hard way.) I used string instead of floral wire because I didn’t have any and it worked just fine. Yay, spring!

My Little Winter Scene

I’m an always-cold person (and a big old whiner about it), so I couldn’t be more excited for spring. But I will be sad to take down my little winter vignette. It’s inspired by this (much lovlier) one from Cakies. I had to comb City Hall park like a total crazy person after work one night to get some sticks, which garnered me quite a few strange looks. But it was worth it! Makes me smile every day.
