So I’ve been trying not to blog about wedding stuff because I don’t want it to take over my life, but I HAD to share this completely hilarious and sweet wedding entrance. I want to be friends with these people!

Heading out to Montauk tonight for our annual long weekend and I just had to share my favorite photo from last year. This wasn’t staged at all—we were just walking down the beach and happened onto a random scattering of Goldfish crackers that had washed up. Love it.

I also want to apologize for being so sporadic with the blog lately. Being away several weekends in a row + getting engaged + going away again = not so much of the blogging. But I’ll be back soon and better than ever! In the meantime, have a lovely weekend.

Update: So as it turns out, Friday morning’s flowers also came with a ring on Fright night. Yep, we’re engaged! He asked me outside of one of my favorite little restaurants in the East Village, and it was perfect. I’ll stop with the mushy love stuff now, but I just couldn’t leave this post up without telling the rest of the story.

In honor of Earth Day, I’m posting a fabulous (green!) discovery that we made last night: After nearly a year of coddling, our little windowsill jalepeno-plant-that-could has finally sprouted an actual jalepeno! I have to admit, I never expected it to actually bear fruit. So I’ve decided that Mr. Jalep is a friendly reminder for me to be patient with myself and my just weeks-old business. Now off to dilligently feed and water TweeCards…

Back in New York and it’s pouring down rain. So I’m posting photos from Friday’s hike with my mom & Colin. Gorgeous, right? It was the first really warm day and I’m so glad we took advantage! PS: Now that I’m home, we’ll be back to your regularly scheduled programming. Hopefully.

My first batch of sales, all packed up last night and waiting to ship. So exciting!

Our jalepenos are flowering! (And by ours I mean Colin’s, because he takes care of them and I just talk to them occasionally.) They used to look like this. Fun. Now if I could just grow some windowsill basil without killing it almost immediately…

So I was pretty excited to read about Still Tasty while browsing Lifehacker, because let’s face it, who can afford to toss perfectly good food these days? The site tells you how long tons of foods last (beyond the old look and sniff check), and answers other burning questions, like: “Is it safe to refreeze meat that’s been thawed?” It’s all retro housewifey of me to be concerned about such things, but honestly, I totally want to know. I’d rather not ever have to go back to NYU Medical Center’s emergency care facilities, thank you very much.

But I like it. So I’m reclaiming “twee” to use its powers for good and not evil. I happen to think “excessively dainty, delicate, cute, or quaint” (thanks, Messrs. Merriam and Webster) is fantastic—as long as it’s served with a side of sass and maybe a pinch of irony.

That’s either the recipe for success or the formula for a living room that overfloweth with empty cello bags, mountains of felt, and blank cardstock—and a blog full of chirping crickets. (Crickets, you may note, can’t read. Or comment.) Lord, let it be the former, if only because I now have to report my “business sales tax income” to New York state every 4 months. (In air quotes because this alleged sales tax collected is currently $0, since I still need to get my shop up.) Fingers crossed, people.
