Update: Added two more fab cards today (5.21), Howdy and Knock, Knock!

Taking a quick time-out from your regularly scheduled programming to pimp my shop, because I’m really excited about my new “Hello, Pattern” card line, which sets sail today with “Ahoy!” (Lame pun intended. Sorry.) More patterns and quirky greetings going up all week, and I’ll also be offering sets of 6 different “hello” styles. Fun!

After watching Gennine’s video, I just had to carve a stamp this weekend. No idea why I chose a butterfly—maybe because it’s been a gross grey weekend here in New York. Turned out better than I expected, since I don’t think I’ve drawn a butterfly since I was maybe 12!

I’m slightly obsessed with Gennine, her lovely blog, and her hand-carved stamps. (In fact, she’s the one who inspired me to start carving again myself!) So I was terribly excited today when I saw this wonderful treat that she shared: A video of her stamp-carving process, from drawing to finished product. Wow! My process is significantly less elegant, I can tell you that. Enjoy!

Stamp #3 In Action

Finally got around to trying out stamp #3 this morning. (What is it about a sunshiny day that’s infinitely more motivating?) I stole one of Colin’s lunch bags to try some white ink. I quite like the flower, but my ink technique needs some work! I think next time I’ll buy oil-based inks, because the water-based ones dry up so quickly, and it’s a bit of a waste. (Or I’m just stingy…) Technique aside, I’m enjoying my new spring flowers. Happy Easter!

Hey strangers! I’ve been away from the webby world for awhile (okay a few days but that feels like forever in internet years) and I haven’t been crafting either. The boyfriend’s mom was visiting and we had a lovely time. But now I’m back to real life (where I don’t get to go out to dinner every night, sad.) I was feelin’ the crafty itch, so I carved this flower tonight. Too sleepy to bust out the brayer and ink (I really need to get a few ink pads) so we’ll see how it actually prints soon.

The (rather meager) results of yesterday’s carving experiment. Not too bad for not having carved a thing for more than 8 years! I love my graphic design and nerdery, but there’s something wonderful about making things with hands and tools and ink. More TK.
